Governor Inslee's message received today stated that all schools public and private are banned from normal, in-person instruction for the remainder of this school year. As stated by Chris Reykdal, state Superintendent of Public Instruction, we will continue with our Distance Learning Plan and online school will resume after Spring Break. Attendance will be taken and student work will be graded. The end of our school year will remain as June 12th for K-7 students, June 5th for preschool, and June 4th for our 8th graders.
Although this is different from what we are used to and the end of the school year will be ending in an unusual way, please know that we will have our 8th grade graduation and end of school year celebrations as soon as it is allowed. I believe it is important for our students to have closure and the ability to see their classmates again. The staff and I will be working out the details of what the end of the school year will look like and when we might be able to gather together as a school family again. We will plan for these celebrations, but it may need to look different than what we have done in the past.
Attached two letters from the Office of Catholic Schools (
here) and a Guide to
Self Care (
here). I have also attached a Q and A for parents (
here).
Please know the staff and I are here for you and your children as we navigate these new unchartered waters.
Just imagine how wonderful it will be to gather together again and celebrate what wonderful children you have!
"More often than most of us care to admit, fear takes control of our lives.
When unexpected events occur, we find ourselves uncertain and frightened, like the disciples on the boat when the seas got rough.
But Jesus calmed those seas. He provided food when it was needed. He told them, and he tells us, "Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid." (Mark 6:50)
Lord I ask you to come into my boat and keep my rudder steady amid the storms of my life. Grant me faith that trusts you amid trials and a love for others that casts out fear, all the days until I leave the turbulent seas of this world and you bring me to a safe harbor." Daily Devotional
